An Introduction to Überlube

Überlube is probably the most multi-tasking of any of our starter stock. We chose this premium silicone lubricant for anyone who prefers silicone to water-based, or who enjoys having a few different options for their play. However, silicone lubricant, and particularly Überlube, has many different functions outside the bedroom as well as inside!

Most people use silicone lubricant because of its long-lasting properties. Überlube is made from silicone with a trace of vitamin E, and as silicone does not absorb into the skin it instead creates a protective and smoothing barrier while the vitamin E absorbs in, effectively moisturising and softening. This makes it ideal for people who struggle with natural lubrication levels, or for applying to places that don’t naturally lubricate- like the anus. Instead of drying in, Überlube gradually dissipates if left on the skin, leaving no sticky residue.

Unlike your skin, what does absorb silicone is other silicones. This means that using silicone lubricant with silicone toys will result in the toys absorbing the lubricant. As it’s usually only on their surface for a short period of time this doesn’t make much of a difference. However if you use it for anal play with toys you may notice the lubricant being absorbed, resulting in less slip, which is why we wouldn’t recommend this use.  One option is to use a condom to cover your toy (Überlube is safe for use with latex and polyisoprene condoms and barriers, but is not compatible with polyurethane) or just make sure that you thoroughly wash your toy after any encounters with silicone lubricant. If you do choose to use it with a toy, we recommend testing it on a small area to see how the material interacts beforehand.

Another major benefit of Überlube’s long-lasting slip is that you only need a small amount with each use and generally don’t need to reapply it. On top of this, Überlube is biostatic- meaning it inhibits the growth of microorganisms like bacteria and yeast. So while silicone lubricant can seem comparatively expensive to water-based, it will usually last you much much longer. Its biostatic properties also make it great to use if you are prone to bacterial or yeast infections. More so, Überlube is also hypoallergenic, so is all round perfect for sensitive bodies. It is even safe for digestion, in case you’re worried about getting any in your mouth during certain activities. Though we wouldn’t recommend swallowing large quantities of the stuff!

Not only will your Uberlube last you an incredibly long time, but it can also be used in so many different ways. More uses for Uberlube include as a dressing aide and anti-chafe device, smoothing frizzy hair and flyaways, as a protective skin barrier for harsh climates, and to shine up latex. It should also be noted that as silicone isn’t water-soluble, it can be used for bath and shower play. Just please be incredibly cautious of slippery surfaces if you choose to do so.
